How to care for your new fine-line tattoo

How to care for your fine-line tattoo
Your tattoo is a delicate piece of art, and proper aftercare is essential for clean healing and long-lasting detail.
Bandage Care
Your tattoo will be covered with a transparent, latex-free bandage before you leave the studio.
Keep this on for 2-3 days, depending on your comfort.
When you’re ready to remove it, do so under warm running water.
Gently peel it off by pulling down and away from the skin (similar to removing a command strip), rather than lifting it upward.
First Clean
Once the bandage is removed:
Wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water + fragrance-free soap
Use clean hands only—no washcloths or scrubbing
If any adhesive residue remains, you can lightly remove it with a small amount of coconut oil or aquaphor.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel—do not rub.
Moisturizing
Apply a very thin layer of a lightweight fragrance-free lotion.
Don’t overdo it; your tattoo should be hydrated, not suffocated.
Avoid products containing petroleum (including Aquaphor), as they can affect healing.
Healing Process
During healing, your tattoo may:
-feel slightly itchy
-peel or flake
-appear a bit dull or cloudy
This is completely normal!
Do not pick, scratch, or peel—this can affect how your tattoo heals.
Ongoing Care (First 2 Weeks)
Keep your tattoo lightly moisturized
Avoid direct sun exposure
Avoid swimming, hot tubs, and soaking
Showering is completely fine.
Long-Term Care
Once healed, your tattoo will continue to look its best with proper care:
Keep your skin moisturized
Apply SPF 30+ when exposed to the sun
Fine-line tattoos are delicate, and sun protection makes a huge difference in preserving detail.
Touch-Ups
A touch-up may be needed once your tattoo is fully healed (4-6 weeks).
Touch-ups are complimentary within 1 year.
